Poem Held Down by the Edge of a Glass

Michael Channing

stickboy with a pet book

i like to be able to put something
somewhere and know it will stay
tuck this bottle in a boot
tip it here by the door
shim a dollar underneath
the short leg of the table
this book will sleep
like a resting seagull on the corner
of the bed till i wake it
and fold it back into its nest
